Latest Updates from Our Project:

How’s life underground?
about 3 years ago – Wed, Jan 27, 2021 at 12:28:07 AM

Hopefully you’re keeping well and maybe even enjoying working together in the mines to forge a better society, after our last update. I’d love to hear about people’s experiences playing with the co-op rules if you’ve tried it - why not drop a comment here or leave something on BoardGameGeek?

Of course, as you may know, working together underground is also the theme of the most recent of my game designs to be published by Dragon Dawn Productions - Maeshowe: an Orkney Saga. It features more fantastic original artwork from the talented Lars Munck (the artist responsible for all of the art in Dwarf) and sees one to two players work together to try to escape from a tomb. This isn’t just made up stuff though - the game’s based on true stories from the twelfth century AD, as told to us in the Orkneyinga Saga. A tale of vikings, madness and treasure - it’s one for the ages.

We’re five days into the campaign now and have just nine left to go - it’s a short campaign. We’re really pleased with the reception, too - it funded in just 38 minutes and has already seen eight stretch goals unlocked, which add considerably to both the content and variety as well as to the component quality of the game.

If you haven’t had a look at the game yet, now’s the time to check out the campaign page and see if it’s something you’d be interested in. It’s been a labour of love getting the game here, after a nearly five year development cycle, and I think all that time has really paid off.

I hope to see you over there.

Hi all, it's been pointed out to me that the link to the 'State Emergency' card posted in the last update was for an unusual file format. Here it is in pdf form:

Side A

Side B

Side A features the artwork shown in the last update and side B features the normal 'special action card' artwork.

Happy Christmas!

December Update!
over 3 years ago – Sun, Dec 20, 2020 at 08:33:38 PM

Maeshowe - 30 minutes of desperation and madness for 1-2 Viking survivors, launching 21.1.2021 21:21 UTC

As some of you may know one of our team members and top designers Lee Broderick, will be working with us again on our next game Maeshowe: Orkney Saga. Lee (who was the designer behind our earlier game ‘Dwarf’) has paired up with our lead developer Nikolas Lundström Patrakka to come up with the best possible version of the game. Maeshowe is based on the true stories of Earl Rognvald, Kali Kolsson and Earl Harald Maddadson who, in the 12th century, broke into the tomb of Maeshowe, on Orkney. In search of treasure they, instead, found themselves stuck in the Tomb they were trying to plunder. 1-2 players find themselves in the roles of these Vikings trying to dig themselves out of the tomb of Maeshowe without succumbing to hunger or madness.

A preview of the Maeshowe rulebook is available here. (English)

We have sent 15 Maeshowe review sets to trusted reviewers, and their comments are expected early 2021. It will be exciting to see who’ll be the first to respond. If you’d like to participate in the campaign planning and provide some Kickstarter content improvement suggestions, please send us a note and we’ll share the KS site with you in due course.

However, we’d like to remind you all that should you want any of our current products, we have an outstanding ‘end of 2020’ offer of 20% off all prices if you buy two or more products using the code  ‘XMAS-PRESENT’ at our store.

Let us all hope that the seasonal break will lead to a better and more stable year than 2020 has been.

Plenty of positive news
over 3 years ago – Fri, Sep 11, 2020 at 06:08:51 AM

Dear backers,

The middle of September is getting closer and in these latitudes, that means that autumn is well on its way. Trees are turning yellow, red, and orange. Day time feels summery, but nights are creeping closer to zero. Normally, in two weeks we might see the first snow… but, *sigh*, this has been a weird year, even weather has seen odd patterns, so who knows.

The Return of Deutche Post

We are happy to tell you that from 15th September onward Deutsche Post works with the final few shipments to the USA. It has not yet been confirmed if this means that other countries (like Australia) which had some limitations are seeing limitations lifted - however, this is likely the case.

This means that we are finally able to send the parcels in the backlog. During the upcoming week, we will pack and ship all Dwarf and Aisha copies. Deutsche Post warned that rapid transition to ‘back to normal’ will likely mean a huge influx of parcels and thus might cause some congestion. The estimated delivery to the USA is about 14 days, beginning from mid next week.

Dwarf on Discount in our new store!

We have spent the summer building an improved website and shop that would better serve the community. We’re happy to tell you that both of those are now available and we’d very much welcome your feedback and improvement suggestions.

Our new website can be found from: https://www.ddpgames.com

And a direct link to the shop is: https://dragondawnstore.myshopify.com/

You’ll find that the shop has some interesting new sales. We will aim to have new sales every two months. This sale will remain until the end of October. November and December will have something else and so forth!
